Terms of use
Hitstory (hitstory.app) is a free website, run by Gareth Busson in the United Kingdom, for browsing and listening to historical UK and US singles and albums charts. By using it you agree to these terms.
YouTube
Hitstory uses YouTube API Services to find and play music videos. By using Hitstory you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information collected through the YouTube player is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. Videos are played by YouTube's own embedded player; Hitstory does not download, store or alter them.
Using Hitstory
- Hitstory is for personal, non-commercial use.
- Don't try to disrupt the site, overload it, or use automated tools to extract its data or to make large numbers of video lookups.
- Videos, recordings, album artwork and the artists' names and marks belong to their owners. Hitstory links to and embeds them; it does not grant you any rights in them.
Chart information
UK chart data is from the Official Singles Chart (© Official Charts Company); US chart data is from the Billboard Hot 100 (© Billboard). Early charts were compiled differently and some weeks are shorter or have shared positions. Hitstory works hard to be accurate, but chart details, video matches, album art and the notes from Wikipedia may sometimes be wrong. Please don't rely on them where accuracy matters.
Buying music
“Buy” links take you to Amazon, which sells the music; Hitstory doesn't sell anything itself. As an Amazon Associate, Hitstory earns from qualifying purchases. This costs you nothing extra. Any purchase is between you and Amazon, on Amazon's terms.
Hitstory's own work
The Hitstory name, logo, design and code are © Gareth Busson. Artist and song notes come from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence and are credited where shown.
No guarantee
Hitstory is provided free and as it is. It may change, pause or stop at any time, and videos may stop playing if YouTube or their owners remove them. As far as the law allows, Hitstory isn't liable for any loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under UK law.
Changes and law
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
